Stepping into the field of AI and Machine Learning sounds good, and the curiosity pertaining to the future and career possibilities hovers in the mind of aspirants.

Somewhere tonight, in a district hospital, a chest X-ray sits in a queue. Software will read it before a doctor does. It will mark a shadow on the left lung, tag the case as urgent, and push it to the top of the pile. Ten years ago that belonged in a film. Today it is an ordinary Tuesday.

For many students, the question starts right there. Who writes that software? Who tests it? Who answers when it misses something?

The short answer is B.Tech CSE graduates trained in AI and Machine Learning. They build the models that read scans, score risk and spot illness before a patient feels unwell. A growing number of them study at private universities near Hyderabad for engineering and healthcare, because Telangana holds both halves of the puzzle — a large technology industry and one of the world’s biggest medicine clusters, sitting within an hour of each other.

This blog covers the work itself, the pay, the fees, the entry rules, and how the main campuses compare.

What does AI actually do inside a hospital?

First, two plain definitions.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is software that handles jobs which normally need human judgement. Machine Learning (ML) is the branch of AI that learns patterns from data, instead of following fixed rules typed in by a programmer. In medicine, that data is scans, blood reports, heart traces and old patient files.

A closer look at the industry shows four main areas of work.

Table 1: Where AI already works inside healthcare

Area of work What the software does Where it already runs Source
Medical imaging Reads X-rays, CT and MRI scans and marks suspect areas in seconds Qure.ai’s qXR runs at 2,600+ sites across 67 countries and is named in WHO tuberculosis screening guidance Digital Health News, 2026
Triage and sorting Pushes urgent cases to the front of the reading queue Municipal hospitals in Mumbai recorded a 20–29% rise in incidental TB detection after the tool was switched on India Health Fund; AI for Good (ITU)
Predictive diagnosis Uses past records to estimate the chance of illness before symptoms appear Software already makes up 60.8% of India’s health AI market by value IMARC Group, 2026
Regulated products Cleared medical devices sold to hospitals and labs The US FDA had authorised 1,451 AI-enabled devices by the end of 2025; 1,104 of them were radiology tools US FDA list, via The Imaging Wire, March 2026

What does “predictive diagnosis” mean in simple words?

Think of a teacher who has taught 2,000 children. By October she can usually tell which pupil will struggle in the March exam. She is not guessing. She has seen the pattern many times.

Predictive diagnosis works the same way, only with numbers. A model studies lakhs of old patient files. It learns which mix of age, blood sugar, blood pressure and past illness tends to end in a heart problem. Then it looks at a new patient and raises a flag early. The doctor still decides. The software only points.

How big is this field, and is the money real?

The reality on the ground shows up better in numbers than in adjectives. Foreign currency below is converted at about ₹96 to one US dollar, the rate in mid-September 2026.

Table 2: Market size for AI in healthcare (USD converted to INR)

Segment Value now Projected value Same figures in INR Source
Global AI in healthcare USD 37.09 billion (2025) USD 861.04 billion by 2035 ₹3.56 lakh crore → ₹82.7 lakh crore Nova One Advisor
India: AI in healthcare USD 435.7 million (2025) USD 4,773.7 million by 2034 ₹4,183 crore → ₹45,828 crore IMARC Group
Global AI in medical imaging USD 7.52 billion (2025) USD 26.16 billion by 2030 ₹72,192 crore → ₹2.51 lakh crore Mordor Intelligence

Research houses publish different totals, because each one measures a slightly different slice of the market. The direction, though, is the same in every report.

The next set of numbers matters more to a student, because it explains where the jobs actually come from.

Why are students searching for private universities near Hyderabad for engineering and healthcare?

Many parents and students still believe that a healthcare technology career must begin in Bengaluru or Pune. The situation has changed considerably over the last few years.

Telangana produces close to 40% of India’s pharmaceutical output, hosts more than 269 USFDA-approved facilities and over 2,000 life sciences companies, according to the state’s own investment body. Genome Valley, spread across about 2,000 acres on the northern edge of the city, brings together more than 200 companies from 18 countries and turns out roughly one-third of the world’s vaccine doses.

Place a technology corridor and a medicine cluster in one city, and a student gets two industries inside a single postcode. That mix is rare in India. It also explains the steady interest in private universities near Hyderabad that teach engineering and healthcare under one roof. Families want a campus that touches both sides, not just one.

What does a B.Tech CSE student actually study for this work?

While the course is popular, there is much more to it than most people realise. The subject list below is what turns a coder into someone a hospital will trust.

Table 4: Subject map — classroom topic to hospital task

Subject in B.Tech CSE What it teaches The hospital task it feeds
Python, C and data structures Writing clean, fast, readable code Every model and every tool starts here

How do private universities near Hyderabad for engineering and healthcare compare on fees?

Fees are the first question most parents ask, and rightly so. The table lists published annual tuition for B.Tech CSE or CSE (AI & ML) in the 2026-27 cycle. Hostel, mess and transport are charged separately everywhere.

Table 5: Annual tuition for B.Tech CSE / CSE (AI & ML), 2026-27

University Annual tuition (approx.) Four-year tuition (approx.) Source
MNR University, Sangareddy ₹2,00,000 ₹8,00,000 MNR University official fee page
Malla Reddy University ₹2,00,000 ₹8,00,000 Collegedunia / Shiksha listings
Anurag University, Ghatkesar ₹2,85,000 (+₹10,000 for Honours) ₹11.40–11.80 lakh Collegedunia listings
Woxsen University ₹3,00,000 tuition (about ₹3,60,000 with other fees) ₹12,00,000 tuition GetMyUni listings
Mahindra University ₹5,00,000 ₹20,00,000 Collegedunia listings
BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus ₹5.83 lakh (₹2,91,500 a semester, rising about 5% a year) ₹23–25 lakh BITS Pilani official fee schedule 2026-27
VNR VJIET ₹1.31–1.70 lakh (Category A) ₹5.2–6.8 lakh GetMyUni / college listings
Vasavi College of Engineering About ₹1.50 lakh (Category A) About ₹6 lakh College listings

Category A seats at fee-regulated colleges cost less; Category B and direct-admission seats cost more. Confirm every figure with the university before paying anything, because fee orders are revised each cycle.

What does each campus bring, apart from fees?

Fees only tell half the story. The table sets private universities near Hyderabad for engineering and healthcare side by side on what each one actually offers a student who wants to work on medical AI.

Table 6: Engineering and healthcare under one roof — who offers what

Institution Engineering programmes Health or medical faculty on the same campus Notable recognition
MNR University B.Tech (Hons) CSE, CSE (AI & ML), CSE (AI & Data Science), ECE (IoT) Yes — School of Allied and Healthcare Sciences: Medical Radiology & Imaging Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Cardiovascular Technology, Neuro Science & Technology, Physiotherapy and more Telangana’s first DASCA-USA accredited university; Gold Sustainable Campus; 50+ year legacy
BITS Pilani, Hyderabad B.E. across nine branches Pharmacy only; no allied health faculty BITSAT entry; strong research reputation
Mahindra University B.Tech CSE, AI & ML, ECE, Mechanical, Civil No Private state university, Telangana
Woxsen University B.Tech CSE, AI & ML, Data Science No Private university, design and business focus
Malla Reddy University B.Tech CSE, AI & ML, IT, VR & AR Group institutions run health courses; the university itself is technology-led NAAC accredited

VNR VJIET and Vasavi College B.Tech under JNTUH affiliation No Autonomous, NBA / NAAC accredited
CMR Institute of Health Sciences None Health sciences only Health-focused institute
Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences None State health sciences university Government university

Most healthcare universities in Hyderabad train clinicians only. Most engineering universities in Hyderabad train coders only. A campus that does both gives a project team something rare: a radiology student who can explain what a real scan queue looks like.

What career paths can you explore after a B.Tech CSE in AI and Machine Learning?

One question that often comes up is whether these jobs exist outside the big product companies. They do. Hospitals, diagnostic chains, medical device makers, insurers and health startups all hire for this work.

Table 7: Roles, daily work and published salary ranges in India (2026)

Role What the day looks like Fresher range With 2–5 years Source
Machine Learning Engineer Trains, tests and tunes models ₹6–12 LPA ₹16–30 LPA Instahyre; Win in Life Academy

AI roles in healthcare and pharma Validation, privacy, diagnostic support Varies by employer Average ₹15–21.8 LPA Online Manipal

Pay depends on skill, company and city. Published averages are a guide, never a promise.

Which skills do employers actually ask for?

Table 8: Skills checklist for a healthcare AIML career

What should a student check before shortlisting private universities near Hyderabad for engineering and healthcare?

Start with the entry rules, because they decide the shortlist before anything else does.

Table 9: Entry route, eligibility and fee support

University Entry route Eligibility Fee support
MNR University TS EAMCET / EAPCET or an equivalent state, national or international test; direct application 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics; minimum age 16 Merit scholarships up to 60% tuition waiver for engineering; 40% for allied health
Mahindra University JEE Main, SAT India, CUET and others 10+2 with PCM Merit-based awards
Woxsen University Own admission process or JEE Main 10+2 with PCM Merit-based awards
BITS Pilani, Hyderabad BITSAT only 10+2 with PCM, 75% aggregate and 60% in each subject Merit-cum-Need scholarships
Anurag University AnuragCET, TG EAPCET or JEE Main 10+2 with PCM, 45–50% aggregate Rank-band scholarships up to 100%
Malla Reddy University TS EAPCET or direct admission 10+2 with about 60% State schemes where applicable
VNR VJIET, Vasavi College TS EAPCET (Category A) or management quota 10+2 with PCM State fee reimbursement where eligible

Four checks matter beyond the table. Does the campus have working laboratories, or only photographs of them? Is there a health faculty close enough for project work? Who teaches the AI papers, and what have they published? And what happens for a student whose family needs fee support?

Why do students keep coming back to MNR University?

From a student’s perspective, MNR University at Sangareddy, on the Greater Hyderabad edge, answers the healthcare half of the question in a way few technology campuses can.

It became the first university in Telangana accredited by the Data Science Council of America (DASCA). The accreditation was granted on 7 April 2026 and runs to 6 April 2032. Its School of Engineering, Technology & Artificial Intelligence runs B.Tech (Hons) in CSE, CSE (AI & ML), CSE (AI & Data Science) and ECE (Internet of Things), with annual tuition listed at ₹2,00,000 for 2026-27.

On the same campus sits the School of Allied and Healthcare Sciences, offering degrees in Medical Radiology and Imaging Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Cardiovascular Technology, Neuro Science and Technology, Physiotherapy and more. In practical terms, a CSE student can walk across and ask a radiology student what a real scan queue looks like. That single conversation changes the quality of a final-year project.

The university also carries a 50+ year legacy in education, a Gold Sustainable Campus recognition, and academic collaborations with six universities in the United States, including Emporia State University, Cumberland University and Campbellsville University. Its laboratories are built around the hardware and software that graduates meet on their first day at work.

A final word for students and parents

Ask any experienced professional in the field, and they will tell you the same thing. The degree opens the door. The projects get you hired.

A student who spends four years reading only slides will struggle in interviews. A student who builds three honest projects — one on imaging, one on prediction, one on deployment — will not.

There is little doubt that healthcare will keep absorbing this skill for the next twenty years. India simply does not have enough doctors to read everything by hand. Among private universities near Hyderabad for engineering and healthcare, the ones worth a longer look are those where engineering and medicine share a boundary wall rather than a brochure.

Frequently Asked Questions

It is software that learns from old medical data and then helps doctors work faster. It reads scans, sorts urgent cases and flags patients who may fall ill. The doctor still makes the final call.

There is no single best. The IITs, IIITs and BITS Pilani lead on research reputation. Among private universities near Hyderabad for engineering and healthcare, MNR University, Mahindra University, Woxsen University, Anurag University and Malla Reddy University all run AI and ML degrees. Judge each one on laboratories, faculty qualifications, fees and project support.

Wide. CSE now feeds healthcare, banking, farming, defence and manufacturing. AI and ML sit on top of CSE, so a CSE graduate can move into health AI, cybersecurity, cloud or data engineering without changing degrees.

Machine Learning Engineer, Computer Vision Engineer, Data Scientist, MLOps Engineer and AI Product Analyst. Published fresher ranges in India run from about ₹5 LPA to ₹12 LPA in 2026, rising to ₹16–30 LPA after a few years of shipped work.

Yes, though not as a clinician. Hospitals and diagnostic chains hire engineers to run imaging software, manage health data and build prediction tools. Medical device firms and health startups hire the same profile.

Yes, but school-level comfort is enough to begin. Probability, statistics and matrices carry most of the load. Students who practise these in the first two years find the later papers far easier.

It is the use of past patient data to estimate the chance of a future illness. The model returns a risk score, and doctors use that score to decide who needs tests sooner.

Published annual tuition for 2026-27 runs from about ₹1.3 lakh for fee-regulated Category A seats to roughly ₹5.8 lakh at BITS Pilani Hyderabad. MNR University lists ₹2,00,000 a year. Hostel, mess and transport are charged separately.

DASCA is the Data Science Council of America, a vendor-neutral body that checks whether data science and AI programmes meet international knowledge standards. MNR University received it on 7 April 2026, valid until 6 April 2032, making it the first university in Telangana with that recognition.

There is no sign of that. India has roughly one radiologist for every 1,00,000 people. Software reduces the backlog; it does not sign the report. Most hospitals treat AI as a second pair of eyes.

A pass in 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, a valid TS EAMCET / EAPCET or equivalent state, national or international test score, and a minimum age of 16 years. Check the admission page for the current cycle.

Those with a health sciences faculty or a hospital tie-up on campus, because project work needs clinical questions and supervised data. MNR University stands out here, since its engineering and allied healthcare schools share one campus.
