Dr. Alluri Padma Raju

Former Vice-Chancellor, ANGRAU

Dr. A Padma Raju is a veteran academician, research scientist and able administrator with more than 40 years of teaching, research and administrative experience. Dr Padma Raju obtained B.Sc (Ag) from Agricultural College, Bapatla in 1965 and M.Sc (Ag) and Ph.D from IARI, New Delhi in 1967 and 1972 respectively. He started his career as Junior Soil Physicist at Anand, Gujarat in 1971. Later he joined Acharya N G Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) (then APAU) as Senior Soil Physicist at Agricultural Research Station, Anantapuram, AP in 1976 and rose to the position of Vice-Chancellor of ANGRAU, the largest agricultural university in India in 2013. He worked as Principal Scientist, University Head of the Department, Associate Director of Research, Director of Research and Member of Board of Management. He has published about 60 research articles in national journals and about 20 in international journals.

Responsible for planning, co-ordinating, controlling, evaluating, managing, administering and documenting of research in the fields of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Sciences, Fisheries, Forestry and Home Science conducted by more than 850 scientists working in 67 research stations spread over 7 agro-climatic zones of Andhra Pradesh state with about 13 million hectares of net cultivated area.

  15. Responsible for Research and Development of soybean as pure crop as well as inter crop in cotton – a classical and revolutionary introduction of a non-traditional crop for the improvement of economic conditions of the farmers particularly in Adilabad and its surrounding districts in Northern Telangana Region of the State.

  16. Responsible for the development and release of 46 new crop varieties bringing the total varieties released by the University to 302.

  17. A 50 acre garden of medicinal plants was established at Rajendranagar to generate technologies for production of medicinal plants and also to serve as demonstration farm.

  18. Responsible for the development of a pneumatic pressure boiling vessel to process parboiled rice with attractive white colour.

  19. Responsible for the development / standardization of Integrated Pest Management and Integrated Disease Management technologies for major crops

  20. Established Buffalo Research Station at Venkataramannagudem with automated systems where an elite herd of Murrah buffaloes is being maintained.

  21. Developed mandal wise crop plans with the help of District Agricultural Advisory and Transfer of Technology Centres.

Prof. Somayajulu has 35 years of experience in teaching, research, consultancy, and outreach works in the field of Computer Science and Engineering. He joined as Director of National Institute of Technology Manipur on June 1st, 2024. His academic career started in NIT(REC) Warangal in the month of September 1988 and promoted as Professor of Computer Science & Engineering in 2006.

Prof Somayajulu served various administrative positions at NIT Warangal such as the Head of the Department of CSE, Dean (Academic), ISEA coordinator, NMEICT Coordinator, BRICS Coordinator, and Professor-in-charge of MIS. He is a member of various accreditation committees, Technical Committees of TEQIP II World Bank project, and Board of Studies member for various Institutions at state and central Institutions/Universities.

Prof Somayajulu is instrumental in establishing Electronics and ICT Academy, sponsored by MeitY in imparting training of faculty across seven states and industry oriented certificate programmes in August 2015. He served as Chair of EICT Academy at NIT Warangal during 2015-2019. He is instrumental in starting B. Tech. in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, M. Tech. and Ph.D. programmes at IIITDM Kurnool in the year 2019.

In the month of February 2019, he joined, on deputation, for the Post of Director, Indian Institute of Technology Design and Manufacturing Kurnool (IIITDM Kurnool). As Director of IIITDM Kurnool, he has established the campus with all modern classrooms and labs, hostels, seminar halls, adequate number of teaching and non-teaching and along with UG, PG and Ph.D programmes. Currently, under his directorship, IIITDM Kurnool is offering four UG Programmes with intake of 240, 3 B Tech Dual degree programme with intake of 60, 6 PG programmes with intake 0f 90, four minor programmes. Also he has established Samsung Innovation Campus Lab, Drone Studio and 5G Use case Laboratory sponsored under MeitY Scheme along with other labs in various departments as per scheme.

He has published more than 55 research papers in reputed journals and Conferences, guided 14 Ph.D students, conducted research and consultancy projects worth more than 300 lakhs, and received Global Food Basket (GFB)-2023 award under best Institution imparting technical education category from AP by Manufacturers Services and Marketing Entrepreneurs Chamber of Commerce (MSMECC), Vijayawada, Bharat Education Excellence award in 2023 by Brian-0 Vision, Best teacher award from NITW (2020), Best researcher award from NITW(2016), appreciation award from IEEE and IE(I) best Engineer of the year award (1996) for his credit.

Prof. Dr. V. Alagarsamy is a renowned academician and internationally recognised scientist. He had been named among top 2% scientists in the world in the field of Pharmacy with a worldwide subject rank of 1561 by The Stanford University, USA. He is the only one ranked in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in the subject of Pharmacology & Pharmacy. He had patented one of the new drug molecules and having 1 patent on new product development. Based on his contributions, recently he had been honoured with Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), London, UK.

He had graduated from D.Pharm to Ph.D. from well recognised premier institutions viz. D.Pharm., from Coimbatore Medical College, B.Pharm., from Madurai Medical College, M.Pharm., from LM College of Pharmacy (Gujrat University), Ahmedabad and Ph.D. from The MS University of Baroda. Qualified GATE with 95.1 percentile with the all-India rank is 52.

He taught Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Organic Chemistry, Chemistry of Natural Products and performing research work in synthetic medicinal chemistry on novel heterocyclic bio-active compounds for more than two decades. Presently he is doing research on the identification of phyto chemicals for the treatment of Covid-19.

His main research is to develop quinazoline derived drugs and made a substantial contribution in the design and synthesis of heterocyclic compounds. The lead compound of his research on the anti-HIV have shown 196% percent protection against HIV-2 and 126% protection against HIV-1. This compound is under patent process. His research works are collaborated with various research laboratories/organizations like National Cancer Institute, USA;

Rega Institute for Medical Research, Belgium and Sudbury Regional Hospital, Ontario, Canada. His research activities are supported by the funding agencies like CSIR, DST and DSIR.

His research activities are evidenced by his publications in national and international journals and presentations in conferences which crossed two hundreds. Many of his publications are well recognized and cited by the researchers all over the world. His total citations are 3341,h-Index 31,i10- Index 71.

To disseminate the knowledge, he had delivered lectures in the conferences and organized state level, national level and international level conferences, webinars and workshops. His books on the title of Text Book of Medicinal Chemistry (Elsevier), Pharmaceutical Chemistry of Natural Products (Elsevier), Pharmaceutical Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry-A Comprehensive Approach, Pharmaceutical Organic Chemistry, Pharmacognosy & Phyto chemistry, Pharmaceutical Biochemistry, Textbook of Computer Aided Drug Design and Practical Pharmaceutical Inorganic Chemistry” are well appreciated in the academic community nationally and received international recognition too.

He had received Best Research Paper Awards in national and international conferences. He had also been conferred with Best Researcher Award and Best Principal Award. His research achievements were appreciated by the management of MNR Educational Trust by designating as Director of MNR Foundation for Research and Innovations. He is a recipient of young scientist project from the Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi. He became a Co-editor of the international journal “Anti-infective Agents”, published by Bentham Science Publishers.

He had served as a member of All India Board of Pharmaceutical Education AICTE, New Delhi and a member of board of studies in Osmania University. He had been recognised as a doctoral committee member and recognized research guide for PhD scholars in various universities and successfully 10 students were awarded PhD under his guidance. He is also serving as a CPCSEA’s nominee in Ethical committee of Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Hyderabad and as a scientist in Ethical committee of LV Prasad Research Institute; Aragen (GVK) Life Sciences, Hyderabad.

Dr. I V Radha Krishna Murthy was born on 01-07-1940 in Appikatla village of Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. He had his School Education in the same village in Zilla Parishad High School. Later on, he moved to Hyderabad in the year 1965 and joined in Education Department as a Stenographer. He did his Graduation in Vivek Vardhani Collage, Hyderabad, Post-Graduation in Economics in Nizam College, Bachelor of Education Course in Government Comprehensive College of Education, Masab Tank and finally Master of Education in the College of Education Osmania University in the year 1978.

In the year 1975 he was promoted to teaching profession as Lecturer S.C.E.R.T. In the year 1979 he was shifted to the Government Comprehensive College of Education, Hyderabad. He obtained his Ph D Degree in Education from The Maharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda.

In 1983. Dr. Murthy was promoted as Professor in Education and also Principal in the same college. Between 1970 and 1983 he had an opportunity to work as Private Secretary to Sri M V Rajagopal, M.A (Cantab) IAS, Secretary to Government Education Dept., First Vice-Chancellor of JNT University, Hyderabad and as Private Secretary to the Andhra Pradesh Minister for Tourism and Public libraries. He worked as Professor and Head, Dept. of the Curriculum and Textbooks in the State Council of Educational Research and training from 1988 – 1990. During the period he was responsible for developing Curriculum and Syllabus for classes I to X based on National Policy on Education 1986. In the year 1991 he was shifted to AP Primary Education Project Sponsored by the U K Government as Professor H R Department.

The Government of Andhra Pradesh deputed Dr. Murthy in the year 1992 to the University of London to undergo “Advanced course in Textbooks and other learning Materials: Design, Development and Management” in the Institute of the Education for five months. After the training he was posted as Special officer (Textbooks) Government of Andhra Pradesh for developing textbooks for classes I to X. He was promoted as Joint Director of School Education and Officer on Special Duty, Government of Andhra Pradesh in the year 1998. Finally retired from service on superannuation on 01-07-1998.

Dr. Murthy was on the Editorial board of Social Studies Textbooks for classes I to X to which Dr. P Subramanyam IAS Director of School Education was the Chairman. Dr. Murthy was also an Author and editor of about Ten books of B.Ed. and D.El.Ed. Books.

In 2001 he joined MNR Education Group with the generous offer of Sri M N Raju Garu and Sri Ravi Varma Garu first as Principal, MNR College of Education Sangareddy and later from 2002 to 2006 as Principal, MNR Teacher Education College Bachupally, Hyderabad. From 2007 to till date he has been Director (Education) MNR Education Trust.

Professor Mrs. Shobhana O.J has 22 Years of experience in the field of Nursing. Her professional journey had started as General Nurse and Midwife since 1989. Dedication and passion for the profession has encouraged her to pursue her degree in Nursing and post graduate degree in Mental Health Nursing. The Social service drive made her to serve the community at Madhya Pradesh for several years. Subsequently, her attention shifted to quality and staff nurses training since 1996 believing that the nurses are the advocates for health promotion, educating the public and patients on preventing injury and illnesses, participating in rehabilitation, and providing care and support.

She has been associated with MNR educational trust for the last 19 years. During this period, she has worked as Principal, MNR school of Nursing and currently working as Vice principal, MNR College of Nursing for the last 12 years.

Dr. Ashwitha Kodaparthi

Dr. Ashwitha Kodaparthi is presently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology, and currently holds the position of Principal in MNR P.G College, Kukatpally, Hyderabad, Telangana, India. She has pursued her M.Sc. Microbiology (Gold Medal) from Palamuru University in 2011. She received her doctorate in Biotechnology from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad. She has nearly 9 years of teaching experience as a Reader and as an Assistant Professor in Microbiology. She is an awardee of INSPIRE Fellowship for her doctoral studies from the Department of Science and Technology (DST).

She published more than 15 research publications and has authored more than 12 book chapters and book in Taylor & Francis, Royal Society of Chemistry, Wiley, Springer Nature, Elsevier, IIP, etc on Sustainable microbial technologies and guided students at the postgraduate level.

She participated in more than 38 National & international Seminars and Conferences. She has one patent granted from Intellectual Property India. Her accomplishments also include receiving the Best Paper Awards at the International & National Conferences on Biotechnology, Microbiological. Dr T V Satyanarayana has 35 years of teaching and research experience and concurrently 25 years of administrative and project management experience while working as the Assistant Professor to Professor, Principal Scientist, Project Manager, Associate Dean, Dean of Agricultural Engineering & Technology and Registrar of the Acharya N G Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) (Formerly Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University), India’s largest state agricultural university in Government sector. He was awarded Senior Professor (HAG) scale in 2009. He was instrumental in establishing three new colleges at Sangareddy, Madakasira and Pulivendula in the erstwhile AP state and establishing the new campus of ANGRAU at Lam, Guntur after state’s bifurcation. He is presently officiating as the Registrar-designate of the university

Dr T V Satyanarayana has been widely recognized for his research work in the field of On-farm irrigation and drainage water management. He has developed the designs of efficient water measuring and regulating devices for use in field channels of irrigation commands. He has designed and developed some effective designs of sub-surface drainage systems for control of water logging and salinity in irrigated canal commands and implementing successfully. He has published 45 research articles inreputed national journals and 15 research articles in international journals. He has attended several national and international conferences and presented technical papers on various aspects related to drainage and water management. He visited Germany, The Netherlands, USA, Italy, Egypt, Thailand and Singapore in connection with pursuit of academic and research programmes.He was instrumental in securing external funding of Rs 50 crores to ANGRAU for research projects on irrigation and drainage water management from Netherlands Govt and FAO, Rome, Italy during 1998-2008. He has received nine national and international awards including “FAO Award for Research Excellence”, “Engineer of the Year” Award and “Bharat Ratna Sir MokshagundamVisvesvaraya Award” by Govt of AP in 2012 for the outstanding contributions in the field of irrigation and drainage engineering. He was a member of the 5th Deans’ committee of Indian Council of Agricultural Research for UG courses in India and PRT for many universities for ICAR Accreditation. He also served as expert member for UPSC, ASRB, APPSC, HSPSC examinations and selections.

Dr T V Satyanarayana obtained B.Tech (Hons) (Agricultural Engineering) from GBPUAT (Formerly UPAU), Pantnagar and M.Tech and Ph D in Soil and Water Engineering from IIT, Kharagpur. He pursued Post-Doctoral Research in the Department of Hydraulics and Hydrology under DAAD Fellowship at Technological University at Munich in Germany. He also pursued collaborative research on irrigation and drainage water management at the International Institute for Land Reclamation and Improvement (ILRI) at Wageningen University and Research Center (WUR) in The Netherlands. He has also undergone training on Water Resources Planning at the UNESCO-IHE, Delft in the Netherlands. He possesses PG Diploma in Human Resources Management from Pondicherry University. He is a Life Member of the Indian Society of Agricultural Engineers and Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India).
